Featured Replies

hi all i have a skoda felicia 98 1.3 mpi i have owen it for 2 weeks and i was goin to work one morning and it wont start i have fuel init but no fuel is getting to the engine i have checked the fuel pump relay under the dash but now im left scraching my head as i have never work on a skoda before any help or ideas would be a great help

thanks

I take it it's not starting at all, as if it does start but dies after a couple of seconds that's an immobiliser issue.

Do you hear the fuel pump running for a few seconds when you first switch the ignition on? If not check that fuse number 4 is OK as well as the relay - the fuel pump and the injectors are on that one.

hi it is not starting atall and i cant hear the fuel pump and i have changed the relay n fuse i have also checked to see if there was a live wire to the pump and there was not but the gauge works fine

I'd say it's fairly likely you need a new pump in that case. Unscrew the cover plate under the back seats and whip it out - failures aren't that uncommon.

hang on a sec, if there's no live to the pump then the ecu isn't switching the relay on, it's possible that the ignition switch has broken, or possibly one of the battery/chassis/engine earth straps is loose

can you be more specific as to what happens when you try and start it? do you get anything on the dash? which lights come on?

HI the lights on the dash come on as normal its just not pumping fuel to the engine iv checked for a live at the pump and there wasnt one but the fuel gauge is still workingi havent checked the earth strap on the engine/chassis ill do that in the morning

not 100% sure, but i think when the crankshaft sensor is disconnected, the electrical feed to the pump is stopped....might be worthwhile checking if its faulty....? its the sensor sitting on top of the gearbox bellhousing, held in with a single 10mm bolt- worth a try, maybe?

best of luck finding the problem
