Additional work (on top of usual service)

Featured Replies

OK, my Fabia SE is coming up 4 years old now, and thinking of booking it in for the timing belt / water pump to be done.

Anything else that should be done at the same time ?

I'll get the usual oil / filter etc. all done (and all brakes / pads were done a few months ago)

I'd rather just get it all done at once - maybe negotiate a better price for a job lot ??

and only book it in once to save hassle.

Having read about EGR valves, is it worth getting it stripped / cleaned ?

Was also thinking about as RARB, is it worth getting the other bushes replaced /upgraded , or is it too early (only had one VRS so so have nothing to compare drive too !)

Cheers

Rob

brake fluid should be every two years so you should be due that too

seemed to be running down boost pipe and dripping from bottom, is this some seals leaking ??

without looking id say ur clips for the boost pipes will be wearing. with time and useage the tend to become weaker. wouldnt worry bout it mine is on 98k now and its never blown a boost pipe off. ask the mechanic to check and see weather he recommends to replace them.

cheers, will do just for peace of mind anyway.

Great to know these issues are 'fairly common'.

Hi depending on mileage and fuel quality that you use most people say replace the fuel filter at 5yr, I run my 1.4 16v on Vpower and replace mine every 4-5 years, and you ought to see the gunk in that!!

I would get the fuel filter, air filter and pollen filter done while it's in, and the brake fluid changed (as already mentioned).

Aren't all these done as standard in the 4 year (40k service) ? The brake fluid isn't in the standard service but is recommended every 2 years..... the dealer that serviced mine at 2 years never recommended it but Farmers in Leicester did at 4 years.
