yes it will work, but you will need to take out the airbag warning lamp from the cluster otherwise it will be on permanently.

yes it should do so long as your alternator is working correctly and also so long as you have the original aux drive pulley and alternator pulley because it gets the signal from the alternator which turns at twice the engine speed

so does the petrol take a signal from the alt or ecu via acrank sensor or are they t`d together like the diesel, just in case my diesel counter doesn`t go high enough!!

On the petrol models the tacho signal comes straight from the ECU - the 3rd alternator terminal isn't used in that case.

^^ what he said, on the petrols the tacho driver comes from the ecu, on the diesel the alternator makes the tacho signal which is fed to the ecu from the alternator and also to the rev counter

hi, i fitted the rev counter clock set and the rev counter does not work, every thing else works, any ideas, the truck does have a bosch alternater. thanks

not an electricky person, so I ask questions, but it seems that the signal from the ecu will be different to that from the alt cos analogue and digi are involved, i think, different pulses perhaps. But there should be some response from the rc

no you misinterpret it slightly rolo, the ecu gets the tacho signal from the alternator

My memory of the wiring diagram for the diesel says the windings(w) wire goes to the rev counter and a T goes to the ecu so it can do its thing with the pump, is this not correct?. Old diesel rev counters had a + and - and a wire to a phase tap on the alt thought this was the same.
