Fabia Towbar Removal

Featured Replies

Anyone know how to remove a factory fitted tow bar off a 2005 skoda fabia, and no ,i don't maen cutting it off with a grinder or chaining it to a post and giving it the shoe to yank it off lol.

You will need to remove the rear bumper cover and you'll see the towbar securing nuts. The towbar replaces the bumper reinforcement beam so you'll need one of those to maintain the rear end crash worthiness. You can trace the wiring back to where it connects into the rear harness and disconnect it or alternatively remove the plug from its bracket wrap it in a plastic bag and secure it hidden underneath the car.

The rear bumper cover is held on by torx screws along its bottom edge, in the wheel arches and hidden under the rear lights.

Not sure about Irish ones but UK ones were dealer-fit not factory-fit... If you have to take a bit off as it suggests to fit the tow bar you might ask a dealer or two if they've got any floating around following fitting to other cars. Sounds like a bigger job than you thought...

Is it the factory fitted bar with the removable hitch you're on about and you just want to take the ball off (if so you should have a seperate key) or do you want to remove the whole lot?

Couple of links for fabia II might be handy and point you in the right direction?

Have to admit, I got the removable hitch on mine with the blanking plate when ordered the car but I think I've only ever taken the ball off once for a couple of days!
