felicia central locking

Featured Replies

Hi all, my 1996 Felicia central locking has stopped working. Any ideas? is this likely to be a common problem that happens with this model. I am a competent mechanic but not to hot on electrical problems. any suggestions would be gratefully accepted. many thanks robert

I take it this is factory-fitted(GLXi) or dealer-fitted system. Is there an alarm/remote locking upgrade involved as well?

OK, obvious first check: fuse 16. Second, is any part working? Have you tried locking and unlocking from both the inside and outside of both front doors a few times? It's possible for the system to get confused if one part somehow ends up in a different state to what the controller thinks it is - methodically testing every input combination like this should either get everything reset, or allow you to at least pinpoint what exactly has gone wrong.

If you have electric mirrors, do they also not work? Have you done anything up round the back of the radio recently? There's a connector by the radio connectors that will cut power to the C/L and mirrors if it's inadvertently undone.

Check the foam around the bonnet release lever and the equivalent area on the driver's side - if it's wet, take the bottom A-pillar trims off and make sure all the connectors underneath are dry and clean of corrosion inside (especially all the 2-pin brown and blue ones). Also check the fusebox itself isn't wet up top.

If none of these has thrown up anything obvious, let me know what the results of all the above were and we'll see what's most likely from there.
