R32 brake upgrade

Featured Replies

I have been offered a full front and rear set of Golf R32 brakes (calipers, carriers, pads, discs, shields) for £500. They are in good condition, but would be powder coated anyway. My question is, how does this price seem? Can it be had for cheaper?

Not bad. I had a price from a Seat dealer of brand new for £680 but that was just the front setup. Make sure you get VAG COM updated when you have changed them so the car knows you have increased the brake size on the front.

Excellent price, i've been looking at S3 brakes recently :giggle:

Aren't S3 brakes the same as the R32 and Leon Cupra R

Yep but on rare occasions can be had cheaper, everyone goes for the R32 setup hence the demand.

I'd say that's a very good price for the full front & rear setup

I have the same brakes (well S3 front & rear). I can tell you you wont regret fitting them B)

Quick question. Are the calipers and brake disks fittings on all MKII octavias the same ? I mean i can the R32 calipers be fitted to non RS diesel models ?

So the R32 has 345mm discs and single pot calipers I believe. Would it be better to go for a 312mm setup but with 4 pot Brembos as in here?

Why do you need to do that :wonder:

I've been running an .:R32 kit on my car for about 10k Miles and never altered anything with VCDS.

Where is the option to in VCDS to adjust the size of your brakes??? :wonder:

If you head over to golfgti forum there is a thread from a dealer explaining the need to adjust the brake settings. I'll have a look now....

I'm on the MK5golfgti forum and not seen that before :wonder:

I've also asked a few others i know who have done the upgrade and they haven't ever altered anything.

I'm not saying it's wrong i've just never heard it before :)

I've just found the Thread and read through it.

It isn't necessary :)

Just had contact from the guy and the disc has a 1/2pm lip and the pads 1cm left, I assume no issue?

Pads are fine if 1cm left.

Disk should be ok but id ask for pics.

Wife just picked up the brakes for me whilst up in Manchester. Apparently all in good condition. Got a mate who can powder coat them all for £20, only question is red or black? Will be fitted behind anthracite neptunes.

Yellow B)

I would say bargain! There is a member on the MK5 GTi forum selling some S3 brakes (fronts only) for £400.

Do you mean the MK1 Leon Cupra R? If so then they are not the same brakes, and I believe the MK2 Cupra's aren't 345mm, not sure about the MK2 Cupra R though. :S

I'll be honest, not a fan of green or yellow, or the original blue. Was thinking black as initially bought set of Golf R calipers in gloss black, unfortunately the guy messed up and sold them to someone else. Luckily he had a set of an R32 on the side.

But Bobafett was green? and he is obviously a relation! :giggle:

Green. Someone has to uphold the tradition.... even if it isn't Skoda themselves :dull:

S3, Cupra, R32 and scirrocco R all have the 345mm setup.

ref the price they regularily go for less than £400 on the gti forum

Mmmmm, a Janner spanner in the works.............I thought they were fronts only? I know Carl got a bargain, but I've not seen them that cheap tbh.

Very true, although I'm not sure he was Skoda green, more of a dark green :-)
