Spark Plugs

First post in this section (so hello)

Having just added a Fabia 2 1.9 TDI 105ps to our family cars i have a basic first question really, having just got the car i have noted that although serviced regularly, the fuel filter, air filter, pollen filter and spark plugs do not appear to have been changed since new (57 plate, 35k miles) and thought i may as well do them all, but cannot find which spark plugs the 1.9 TDi takes.

Any pointers welcome.

Fuel filter I believe is at the 40000 mile service along with the pollen filter and air filter.

As for spark plugs....haha very funny.

Not April 1st is it ?

Just checking....diesels 101

Thanks for spotting my deliberate (ahem) mistake. I meant glow plugs of course. :giggle:

Pretty sure they never get changed.

Thank you. Clearly have much to learn about diesel engines. :dull:

Compression Ignition engines (ie Diesels), as the name suggests don't use a Spark to ignite the fuel.

They do have Glow Plugs, however these only operate to warm up the cylinders when cold (up to 10 seconds before you start the car) and I think about 30 seconds after that. They do not need changing at regular intervals (unlike spark plugs) and can easily last over 100K miles. Only change them when one fails.
