Glow Plug Light Flashing

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

Yesterday I noticed after starting my car, the glow plug light started flashing with the prompt "Engine Workshop" on my LCD Screen. Has anyone come across this and what is the fix? The car is 2002 / 2.5 TDI

Cheers,

Horse.

Get the plugs checked and change the ones not functioning anymore. :-)

Hi Cown,

I got the 6 replaced in November last, out of the 6 removed only 2 were working and when replaced - it made a big difference in starting. But leading up to the glow plug change - I had no warning lights.

Horse.

Same here.

Check your stop lights - chances are burnt bulb or stop light switch.

This is how VW signals problem with stop lights, I had it on the Octavia (switch) and the Superb (bulb).

First check your brake lights, then look here.

This happened to me last summer in Italy as we crossed the Alps. We took the car to the Skoda agent in Trieste and they diagnosed it was a fuel level sensor, though the gauge and distance to empty seemed to be working OK.

The sensor was replaced when we got back and Skoda paid for the part, even though the car is over three years old (2007 V6).
