Rear Seat Removal help

Featured Replies

Trying to remove my rear seats for a journey on my 54 Vrs, got them all out apart from the double upright part. The middle persons seatbelt is anchored to the floor, is it ok to unbolt this?

Ive got the rest of the seat out apart from where the belt is anchored to the floor and more and more of the belt is retracting into the reel and jamming (like when you pull it too fast) is it likely to all retract and never come back out if i unbolt it!?

Thanks for any help!

I am guessing you have the full middle seatbelt? Otherwise it shouldn't need removing

The seat belt doesn't work properly until the latched into it's upright position.

But yes you can unbolt the bottom fixing, should be a 17mm bolt.

I've had the whole of the rear seat (backs and base) out and have never had to remove any part of the seat belts! The middle one just squashes flatish! Remove both the bases first by lifting up front edge and pivoting forward and then squeeze black holder rods together then lift out. To remove the back fold them forward 1/2 way then using a big size flat (slot) head screwdriver insert into the white coloured catch (where base of back is pivoting from near the door) and I think is't flick the catch forward. Then the tricky part! Lift this end of the back up and forward max 6inch, and then pull the back straight out of the door! The bracket that joins both the backs to the car floor has a tube pivot rod which each back is pushed onto. Refitting it is just a reversal, but insert the screwdriver into the notch on the white catch and press down to lock the outer pivot in place!

Does your have a 3 point middle belt tho?

Errr... No just a 2 point lap belt as 2001year!! So there could be a fitting/ removing difference, but I have the Haynes manual which goes up to 2006 and i havn't seen a different instruction!!

I have the same problem as "whatnameisnttaken?"

I unbolt the bottom fixing and remove rear seat, but the seatbelt is "jammed" (like when pulling it to fast) and I cannot pull it out.

The seatbelt is shorter than it was and now is to short to bolt it again to the floor.

Is there any way to "unjamm" it?
