1999 Octavia won't start on new battery.

Featured Replies

Took my 99 Octavia 1.6 petrol to Kwik-fit for a new battery as the old one was getting tired.

The guy replaced with a new one (right size, CCA etc).

He started the car, tested all the new voltage signals etc.

He switched car off.

I went to start it a minute later - nothing!

Dash electrics all power up - good power to lights, radio etc.

There is no clicking from the starter motor.

He changed for another battery - same result. Also tried a jump from a fully charged van battery with same result.

Any ideas?

He said the earth was properly connected. The fuses seem ok.

Presently the Octy is sitting forlorn at Kwik Fit until their electric guy comes on Monday.

Anyone on here with any suggestions to try?

Starter motor?

Immobiliser?

Fuses?

Bad earth?

Thanks in advance!

Or possibly the starter solenoid, which you can't get separately anyway.
