engine light interpretation

Featured Replies

Ive got an engine warning light on and want to work out what the problem is...

Where abouts is the diagnostic port on a Mk1 Octavia, and what sort of setup do I need?

This is a bit of a new area to me so talk slowly pls

Under the steering wheel there's a shelf, there's a plastic cover that you unclip revealing the diagnostic port.

As for code readers it depends on how much you want to spend and there's a big range depending on price

To sort out an engine management issue, once ive identified and replaced/sorted the sensor etc that was giving a dodgy outpput, do the warning lights go out automatically? Or do I need to reset something in the software with a diagnostic device?

Id prefer to try and keep the costs down as much as possible

you may need to reset, you can do this by taking the battery off though.
