Electric Windows and Alarm Randomly Going Off?

Featured Replies

Both front electric windows on my fabia vrs 55 plate have stopped working completely, and the alarm has been going off randomly? Can anyone shed some light on this?

Many thanks.

Alarm and electric windows are controlled by the "comfort controller" electronic unit above the brake pedal (you need to remove the lower part of dashboard to get to it). Best to get a diagnostic on controller or a fault code reader (plug into main diagnostic socket for car below steering wheel)that can read this unit to point you in right direction. Alarms can be tripped by diesel ignitions from other cars, mobile phone masts etc. If so then windows will lock! Maybe try a key lock trick. Close drivers door (do not use remote) insert key into lock, turn key (I think)anti-clockwise to wind windows down. If not then other way, as one way is up the other down. If windows don,t go down and only up this just resets the upper closed limit, and might do the trick!!

Not sure if this is any help but I had a problem on a 54 plate Octavia with electric windows and central locking (not alarm) Main issue was windows going up and down randomly without input. also selecting a specific window could result in another moving! Turned out to be water getting into the multi plug attached to the drivers side window motor (presume the master window switches plus other items go via this (30 pin ish connector). Once stripped a lot of water was removed (no idea or obvious sign of how it got there) Once dried out windows have been fine - still nervous as I couldnt see how it got there. I suspect Fabia has same or similar set up.
