First decent run

Featured Replies

I've just taken Musky on its first proper run, as I was working on the outskirts of Manchester the last two days. I covered about 160 miles, and my overall fuel consumption (with all of 220 on the clock!) is a very respectable 45.1, although I guess from previous threads that is probably a generous readout from the maxidot. Very comfortable for travelling, and I'm sure the sound quality of the Columbus (music transferred to HDD via SD card) is better than it was in my Octy Scout - perhaps the acoustics of the more boxy shape are responsible. Frosty mornings gave me an unexpected opportunity to test the heated windscreen - great! I know it'a a luxury, but so much better than scraping and squirting. A bit of drizzle on the way home also confirmed that the rain sensor is operating properly.

As mentioned on another thread, I am more conscious of slight engine vibration through the clutch, and when idling, than I was with my 140 Octy scout, but nothing to cause a problem. When moving, there is less road noise than with the Scout.

The only problem I have encountered - and I'm sure there has been something about this on here if any kind soul with a better memory than me can point me towards it - is that, having successfully paired my phone over the weekend, when I tried it coming home today the SM would not connect to it, despite (allegedly) recognising its presence.

But one very happy SM owner at the moment. Next week it's a trip over to Skelmersdale (so about 200 miles in all), then the following weekend it's off on its first holiday all the way to the south of France and back, so that should bed everything in nicely.

My CR170 will beat you on holiday to France then, I'm off to the Alps this weekend! B)
