THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR

Featured Replies

Hi people....is it possible that the throttle position sensor can cause a lack of power/revs, impacting on the turbo not fully kicking in? I used to be able to obtain full turbo by recycling the ignition, however, this does not work anymore. Yesterday, when car began to warm up, putting my foot down actually made the car slow up, until I lifted off the pedal again. If is is, can the sensor alone be changed or is it the whole pedal n stuff?

Thanks all.

What engine do you have?

It sounds more like a turbocharger or boost sensor problem, it sounds like the engine is going into limp mode or similar when you put your foot down.

You really need to check what faults have been logged before deciding what to do about it.

If you have a 2.0TDI I would point towards the VNT vanes on the turbo as sticking vanes can give the same symptoms as you describe.
