TV Tuner for Columbus

Featured Replies

I have just taken delivery of my new Yeti CR170. Very pleased with it, but being the world cup, I cannot receive the cricket (no DAB or LW). Where can I get an integrated DVB TV tuner that works with the Columbus and a MDI so that I can plug in the iPod? I am really stuck as to find someone (nearish me in NW London) reputable to install it and do any necessary VCDS work!

I also need to get the latest firmware for the Columbus as I want 7 digit postcodes!

Any suggestions - all help gratefully received!

Doh - will repost in a more relevant forum - sorry!

Give them a call and they will send you them, I have this system fitted to my Octavia

You will also need a RNS 510 media connector available from ebay

If your Yeti is very new then you won't need the firmware just the map update.

Could you point me at one please, I'm not sure what I need. :(

Brilliant - thanks very much! :)

Been watching this thread... I have heard that adding magic boxes can sometimes affect some of the functions of the Columbus, such as speed dependent volume. Have you experienced any problems with yours?

Do those aerials have to be externally mounted?

You'll also need all the hardware in post 2, and you should get all the channels you get on your TV subject to signal strength from the TV transmitter.

You get all the free view ones and radio, but if you receive your signal from one of those booster masts some channels are missing

I tuned mine in in a good reception area, between the 2 types of mast and it stored both sets of frequencies so if I go into town I can just channel hop to get a program

Everything stores under the ashtray and just needs a power supply from the fuse box, the only downside is the engine has to be running as I dont like leaving the ignition lights on to watch it

Am I right in thinking that the latest versions of the Columbus include a TV tuner?

I dont think it's an option for the UK market.

I looked through the older user manuals on line yesterday and the TV tuner was starred in previous versions (like it was an extra) but not in the latest. I pick it up Saturday so I guess I'll find out then!

The user manual covers all markets. It will not be fitted to your car (If you're in the UK)

Someone at Skoda decided to take all the asterisks out of the 2011 manual. They've also changed the disclaimer blurb in the front. As a result it can be difficult to know what's supposed to be standard and what isn't.
