Anyone with VCDS in Birmingham or West Midlands?

Featured Replies

Hi, is there anyone with VCDS in Birmingham or the wider West Midlands area that can help me disable my coming home and leaving home lights on my 2006 Octy 2? Whenever I park my car at night or leave home in the morning the lights are dazzling my neighbour’s houses and I think they are getting annoyed. I have tried messaging those on the list in Birmingham but unfortunately they cannot help me. If I cannot find someone with VCDS I will contact my local dealer but I know they will charge £35+ for what is probably two minutes work.

I'll be passing by on the M54/M6/M5 southbound on Sunday evening between 4 and 6. If you find out how to do it, and we can meet up on my route, I'd be happy to do it. Can only do this time as normally in Devon obviously :D

Thanks for your quick reply, I have sent you a PM

OK - so it would be REALLY helpful if someone now can post the method to turn off these lights so I can help out the O.P

EDIT: I found this. I assume deactivation is the opposite of this? It sounds like I could just use adaption and set the number of seconds to zero???

With that complete, the next step is some simple VAGCOM coding.

Open 09 - Cent. Elect. and select Coding, then Long Coding Helper.

Check Byte 00 Bit 5 and Byte 00 Bit 7.

Close out and select Do It to write the changes.

Next under 09 - Cent. Elect. select Adaptation

Channel 01 is the number of seconds you want the coming home to be active - 0 to 120.

Channel 02 is the number of seconds you want the leaving home to be active - 0 to 120.

That's it.

Begin the testing with the engine running, turn the engine off and remove the key. The sidelights, dipped lights and tail lights should turn on. Exit the car and lock it via the remote. The lights should turn off after the time specified in Channel 01 has elapsed.

Once that's finished unlock the car via the remote and the sidelights, dipped lights and tail lights should turn on. They will remain on until one of the following three things occurs:

1) You open the driver's door

2) You lock the car again

3) The time specified in Channel 02 has elapsed.
