Lightweight 17" alloys

Featured Replies

My standard alloys are in quite a state, so I was looking at treating it to some lightweight 17" jobbies.

I've narrowed it down a bit, but I am a bit lost with the offset stuff.

OZ Ultraleggera - 7.5x17", 5x100, ET35

Rota GRA - 7.5x17, 5x100, ET48

Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 - 7.0x17", 5x100, ET38

It seems to me that out of those, and using http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp, the Team Dynamics is the best fit without faffing with spacers and stuff?

The OZ should be OK, just about?

The Rota GRA will def. need spacers to fit?

If that's the case, it might have to be the Team Dynamics (though I don't like their colours much!)

I'm not too up on this but I know the rota offset is too high. Perhaps only need 10mm spacers to drop it to 38 though

OZ Ultraleggera - 7.5x17", 5x100, ET35 - WEIGHT = 7.7kg for 8J wheel (i don't have weight for 7.5, only 7J and 8J)

OZ Superleggera - 8.0x17", 5x100, ET35 - WEIGHT = 7.2kg for 8J wheel.

That's why I went superleggera not ultraleggera. ;)

Pro Race 3's are light. My Spiders weigh a ton compared to my old wheels.

I'll have to do a bit of research on spacers. I wanted to avoid them really. I seem to remember reading they can cause troubles (maybe 10mm spacers are unlikely to cause any issues?).

Quite, quite. I'm unsure of the difference between 7", 7.5" and 8" too. I am looking at 215/40/17 tyres. Would I need wider for an 8" wheel?

I like Ultraleggera, Superleggers and the Alleggerita ;-) The OZ are on the expensive side though...

I might... I might... I'm just really unsure of the colours. They look a bit tacky (to me) compared to the finishes on the OZ / Rota :-(

Dont the TD only come in 3...... Black white and silver?

Yep! Out of those the black looks the best, but I am not sure about a glossy black. I like the more mattish colours of OZ, like the "Matt Graphite" :-) Maybe glossy suits the black magic car better though? :-)

buy the wheels and get the done the colour you want?

I think you can also get the GRAs in ET38.

True. But then I may as well spend a bit more and get the OZ in the colour I want, assuming they would fit ;-)

Ahhh. That's awesome, thanks! 7x17", 5x100, ET38 just like the TD's. I'll have to call around and see if anyone has them then, as everywhere I have looked on the interwebs hasn't listed that size! I like the "Steel Gray" on those.
