About to order a new fabia but from where?

Featured Replies

After many Question have decide on ordering a new fabia

It will be a 1.6 cr 105 with Comfort pack, Amundsen, Cruise, Maxi dot, Underseat storage and spare wheel

A few more just to be clear

1) on skoda website it says 'Amundsen' satellite navigation system and Maxi-dot' Does this mean Maxi-dot trip computer or am i being crazy? and i need to order both?

2) Local dealer 'bickerton sheffield' came back with £12400 and my old car 02 BMW 520 with 150000 miles but runs perfect

Drivethedeal came back with £12045.58 and bickerton is not paying ball?

Can drivethedeal really be that much cheaper?

i have email mansfield skoda as i read they sometime provide cars for drive thedeal but no answer from them yet

3) what should i do?

With regards the price - how far are you willing to travel?

I'm sure most people on these forums have a dealership they could recommend.

Maybe you could email them all and see if any of them will match the price?

I can say that my local dealer obviously gave me VAT free, they also knocked a little more off matching a price from another dealer.

They also gave me a fair trade-in on my current car.

But......this is Cambridgeshire :-)

The salesman at bickerton said they will not knock anything off apart from VAT, but then gives me £600 for a 02 BMW is a joke, will be ordering from drivethedeal if nothing local turns up. i can always stick my car in auction. seems like they dont want to sale car.

I didn't get anything off but the VAT on my vrs. I'd check that drivethedeal can actually supply you a car at that price - many of the so called 'deals' don't exist.

From personal experience, i also found dtd to be about £400-£500 cheaper but when i phoned 6 dealers in my local area none of them would even get close because of the current VAT deal going on. In the end i managed to get £100 off and some free floor mats and they've guaranteed the price of mine at a fair price (as ill probably put another 6000 miles on mine before i pick my new Fabia up) so i went for that.

Hi Tony2311,

I think the VAT discount is plenty good enough, I know others have managed to get the odd optional extra or additional discount thrown in but we didnt, didn't really try to be honest.

I'm expecting my dealer to provide the likes of floor mats, tank of fuel perhaps and free fitting of purchased accessories (need a dog grille and boot mat). Might try and wing an MDI cable out of them too. All little sweetners.

With regards to your BM, I personally would sell it privately. Even with that many miles £600 is ridiculous. All they will do is auction your car anyway and likely make a bit of money out of it themselves, why give them the pleasure?

I managed to get about £500 off over the "Vat Free" on my new Octy vRS.

One of the dealers who post on these forums gave me a price and my local dealer matched it.

They also gave me £6500 for my 56 plate Octy vRS (pre Jumbobox, 18" Wheels, Climatronic AC, Rear electric Windows) which I felt was a good price considering the specification.

But as I said that is Cambridgeshire, so a bit of a drive for the OP :-)

Hi Tony2311,

You dont need to order Maxi Dot if you order the Amundsen, comes as part of the deal. Sure that is the case.

I'm sure i've mentioned this already to you in another post but why not consider the Elegance over the SE with option pack? There will be little in the overall price and the Elegance does come with alot of the options as standard and much more attractive 16" wheels. I'd take advantage of the VAT deal and get the better spec personally.

People in bickerton didnt know. dont really want halfs the stuff on elegrance, also 15" tyres are a lot cheaper then 16". i am old enough not to care how big my wheels are just cost of replacment as i do 15-20,000 a year

Sorry Tony2311 but I beg to differ.

I expect the option pack you've gone for includes climate control, door bump strips and parking sensors they are all standard on the Elegance. Cruise and Maxi dot is also standard. Why not go for the better spec and get all these things thrown in rather than shell out to get them on the SE? You're paying out a load of money to have amundsen installed on the SE so it doesnt sound to me that the car's cost is really an issue. Just doesnt make sense to me, particularly with the saving you will make with the VAT deal, makes even the Elegance a cheap car.

16" tyres do not cost great sums more than 15" tyres and you should only need to change your tyres once in a 20K period, particularly if your a careful driver. I thnk the 15" wheels on the SE look tiny and the 16" comet alloys on the Elegance are classier and make the car look alot less underwheeled.

Sorry but for me it would be a no brainer but whatever floats your boat.

I ordered my VRS in January from Skoda in Leicester and they matched the drive the deal price, knocking £400 off without much hesitation!!

just work it out for elegance with spare Wheel, sat nav, underseat boxes and MDI it comes to 13010.84 which is a few pounds more but i get parking sensor & 60/40 seat, and upgrade on seat

i think i will go for that thanks for your advice. Now lets see which dealer will play ball

Mind if I hijack your thread? :p

I'm reasonably local to Letchworth, Watford and Walthamstow, perhaps even Milton Keynes. Positive or negative feedback on any of these four gratefully appreciated in advance of ordering.

You're welcome tony2311, just felt it had to be said. Elegance is the nicer spec level, that it works out cheaper has got to be a bonus :-)
