Recommend gear box oil

Featured Replies

So some of you may have noticed a few posts about my recent cv boot change. Thing is I picked up some new gearbox oil from my local Skoda main dealer, they gave me 80w90 saying it was what they supply for all Skodas now. I know the felly bible says 75w90 but I figured it isn't that different however I've now got crunching going down into second if the revs aren't just right.

Oil the issue? Do I need to do another oil swap?

i always use Lodex 75/90, and I buy it in 10L at a time because it works out about 60p a litre (i wonder if a diesel engine would run on it :giggle: ?)

the crunching could just be the clutch cable needs adjusting

Well that's what I thought but after adjusting the clutch which fair play needed doing it's still not changing very smoothly at least not until it's well warmed up. Where do you get the lodex stuff so cheap? I figured yes the main dealers would be expensive but at least it would be good stuff.......or so I thought.

PS just looked through the paint thread! Looking good, have you ended up making new door cards for bigger speakers like you mentioned a while ago?

no not yet, i've got more important stuff to be doing at the moment rather than fiddling with the speakers.. i'll let you know when i've started on it

can i know how can i replace gearbox oil by my self ?

thaks

yeah, there is a drain plug that you undo on the side/bottom of the differential casing... then to refill the box remove the speedo cable drive gear and retaining plate and fill up from there

thnx mate
