Euro Ambition versus UK SE - any differences

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of any differences between the Euro spec Ambition and the UK Spec SE

I've compared the info packs but cannot see any

Well, I've got an 2.0TDI 110 Ambition if you need any info.

(It is an excellent car - unfortunately, in my case, being wrecked by incompetent service.) :(

I've got a 140 Ambition coming in a few days - it's LHD and bought in France - just wondering if the UK SE spec has any major differences from the Ambition

Best wishes for your new SM BillN_33

Depends which country the vehicle is destined for. Belive UK Ambitions (SE) are at the higher end when it comes to standard kit, with duel zone A/C 17" sports wheels, sunset glass and bolero radio. Although there are other options that are available over in Europe, for example MDI that we cannot get here.

Not sure if its still the case but my previous early production SE was identified as an Ambition on the build sticker in the boot/service book.

Regards,

TP

In DK, the Ambition has 16" Moon wheels, standard radio, semi-automatic AC, front speakers only (4), heated front seats with lumbar adjustment, no spare, colour coordinated mirrors and door handles.

Can't think of anything else. The data below may help you, but some things are options.

Yes, my early Elegance shows as an 'Experience' at the front of the service book too.

The Ambition in France has the following as "standard" over the Active, (the Base model)

Refridge Jumbo box

Knee Airbag

Auto lights

Auto Climatronic - (as Experience/Elegance)

16" Moon

Maxi Dot

Corner fog lights

Rear parking sensors

Bolero

Cruise

4 branch Steering wheel multifunction

thing for sun glasses

"Petit leather pack"

on 4WD and 1.2 DSG has "Aide de demarrage en cote"

TPM is standard on all models

which seems to be the same as the UK SE model - or does it?

In the UK TPM is an option across the board, the sunglass holder is only available from Elegance level as is cornering fog lights and the automatic lights. So all in all the French spec is better than the UK SE.

Thanks - Johann - that's helped to justify the price difference, (a little anyway)

should collect the "thing" tomorrow - so it will be a "cleaning" inspection and driving around the garden, (we are in the country and have some sloping land), weekend

also "hill hold control" appears to be standard on the 4WD French Ambition

Just looked at my Ambition, (SE) - 140 4WD in its delivery dirt, (after a quick wash over) - No foils fitted on the car, (a French model), to protect the rear door "bottoms"

protective strip on passenger door not stuck down too well but I'll mention that tomorrow - driven from another dealer so has a few hundred kms on the clock as it came from the the north East of France - cannot find any stones chips but out here it won't stay unmarked for long if I park the car in a supermarket car park as the "frogs" love to hit their door on yours as they get out of their car - plus considerate parking to them is skill that they do not recognise - no wonder insurance premiums are double the UK and you have to drive 12 or 13 years accident free to get a 50% "discount", (no claims bonus to you Brits)

At least there is no road tax out here - they abolished it a few years ago and diesel is cheaper than petrol and both are cheaper than the UK

The sales guy has quoted me for a rough road pack fitted which does not seems too bad at about Euros 300, and about £600 to fit the detachable "Skoda" Tow bar which I need - (but can you believe that they want the car for 3 days - cannot be true)

Just waiting for them to stick the plates on so that I can insure it and collect it tomorrow afternoon - (since the French changed the registration system to one number plate for the life of the car and no digits indicating the region in which it was registered you no longer see those rather "attractive" temporary WW plates written in chalk on the blank number plate or bumper)

Should I climb underneath "the thing" to make sure that it's not been "ragged" off road to suit the passions of the delivery driver? -just joking

It's already been named "the Thing" by my wife so you can image what she thinks of it, plus I also got the comment today that the colour, "steel grey", is not too bad as "cars like that" should not look good/flashy/executive/luxurious/or anything complementary

Plus when i told my son the price - I got a big WHAT!!!!! - he drives and Audi A4 and (my old 911)

- well that's life in the "Yeti fast lane" - you just can't please some people.

Ah happy days!!! Congrats!

As to the three days: it is not far off. For one the resin has to set for at least 24 hours when they stick the surround in the back bumper for the hatch. And the software upgrade takes time as well. AND the basic kit installation is listed at five hour's labour.

Enjoy the car in "the garden"!
