power steering rack leak

Featured Replies

2000 fabia elegance 1.4 16v

my power steering rack has started leaking

i am looking for a replacement at the moment

as the car is not worth a lot of money i am

looking for a second hand or recon unit

the part no is 6Q2 423 055 G what does the

G on the end stand for as i have seen racks

for sale with the same part no except they

have different letters on the end eg K

will these racks fit my car or has it got to be an

exact match with the letter G

i have seen recon racks advertised on the net

with 2 year warranties for £125 does this seem reasonable

how much are new ones havnt checked yet

also how many hours would a decent garage take

to fit a new rack

thanks for reading and any help welcome

richie

G on the end will be a revision code, need to check with a dealer if any other rack will fit. You will need your VIN and Reg number.

New genuine rack fitted will be the thick end of £600 Inc VAT and Labour.

It's £550 for a rack at cost price I think I paid, so I'd expect a bit more than £600 really.

I think it was £750 all in for fitting at cost price by a friend after it was butchered by another garage.
