Did the mk1 octy come with xenons

Featured Replies

Just a quick one to find out if the mk1 octy came with xenons as an option. I've been looking at hid's but would prefer oem units.

Is there anything different in the wiring or could I just try and find a scrapped car with them and swap units.

Many thanks tim

Yes, an option on all models except the Laurin & Klement, they were standard on those.

Standard on the WRC

Are they just a direct replacement for my units?

What would I need from a donor car?

There is a couple in local scrap yard and was going to see if any of them had them and cruise control as well.

Cost a lot of money to buy them even second hand also you'll need all the self leveling sensors and so on, think the wiring may be different aswell

a lot more to it I'm afraid. Cruise will need enabling as well as installing the stalk.

Have you already bought the car? Or looking for one? I'd just get one with these options you need.

I've already picked up a 05 plate vrs with very low miles and have a list of bits on a wish list. I don't mind getting my hands dirty and am not afraid of a bit of wiring. Changing the stalk for the cruise is no worries other than the airbagî and I have got a cable and vag-com to switch it on if I can find one.

What would I need for the xenons?

Cheers tim

if you want to do a true retrofit then the headlight washer system, self levelling system, check out kufatec.de for retrofit stuff

otherwise

set of hid bulbs and ballasts from ebay (around 4300k for oe light colour and hue)

and stock vrs headlights

though many will tell you they glare, in my experience they work fine

Looks like HID's again then

Had them in my Corrado for years with no problems.
