Better MPG

Featured Replies

It may just be wishful thinking, but my ‘uphill’ cold-start commute mpg has eventually improved after 28,000 miles from new. I’ve been following some of the economy tips like lifting off in 6th gear well before junctions and not removing from that gear until 1000rpm or so is showing. Also been driving at lower maximum speeds (more 50mph limits have appeared en route).

Today I did 39mph average over the 24 miles, which is as fast as I ever have managed, and the display said 50mpg, much to my surprise, as 44mpg is the expected norm. [i’d also given the car maximum wellie a couple of times to clear other traffic.]

So has the ‘engine management system’ eventually learned how to get maximum mpg ?
