A few little niggles....

Featured Replies

evening all. a few little niggles have started getting right up my tree and so its about time i vented my frustration at the problems by asking you fellow briskodians for some sound advice

recently i have noticed a knocking noise coming from the drivers side when turning (3/4 to full turn) to the left. cant really hear it at speed but when pulling into a car park or parking up at low speed it starts up. different sound to worn/bust cvs though..... any ideas?

also had my car mapped in january and when booting it from second to 2nd to 3rd for example there seems to be a slump, almost lag in boost straight after the change and then it will pick up again. would introducing something like a shorter throw help combat this? boost is strong and holds through the rev range (although i dont have a gauge) it certainly feels good apart from immediately after a gear change :wonder:

at what rpm are you changing gear when pushing for 3rd???

I had a smilar knocking noise and was dreading it being the steering rack. On Monday I had my full suspension and top mounts change and the knock has gone, I think it was down to the top mounts.

cheers mike, i shall have a look at weekend. clive it really happens when booting it and changing around 5-6.5k. then when i have changed into third a flat spot occurs immediately after the change and then woooooosshhh the boost comes in all of a sudden

could just be turbo lag? what map are you running?

yeah thats all i could think of really. im running a stage 2 shark. would a tt short shifter help resolve this lag as your able to change gears quicker?

I think a few tuners are developing anti lag maps B)

no lag is lag but imo a good map on these small turbo's you should see none ( not noticeable anyway) some mappers have very aggressive boost maps thus causes this issue !!!!!!!!!!

get a boost gauge fitted and see what you boost is doing at 5.5 when you change and straight after a log would be better !!!

antilag is a gimic imo and a fast way to destroy turbo's

cheers clive, boost gauge is now on the shopping list :smirk:

hows the scooby these days?

the scooby is mental on a different level but i will be selling it as it really is to much for me and the fuel costs are ££££££££

I'd suspect the drop link if its a clunk on turning.
