Try Skoda insurance- been speculatively checking prices for when SWMBO gets a Fabia, and Skoda were miles cheaper than comparison sites could offer

i have £600

The missus (39, no points, full no claims) paid about £250 for her 11 plate SE 1.2 TSI 86bhp with direct line and that includes me as a named driver.

something seems wrong here I only paid £500 for a new vRS at the end of feb and im only 25 with 3 years ncb

Prices are on the rise, especially given the bad weather in December, it can take a little while for underwriters to review their claims experience and price accordingly.

Best bet is to shop around and use more than one price comparison site, just check the cover carefully. Swiftcover were the cheapest for me with a Fabia 2 1.9 tdi.

Good luck

Definately not right mate. Im 30+ with 3 points and 6yrs NCD and been quoted £360 for new vrs with wife as named driver. That was through Go compare.

Wife should be getting TSi(105) in June :wonder: and was quoted £195: age 64 ish, clean, full NCD & protected, voluntary excess £200 (to keep the premiums down) + me as named driver.

When I changed the Wife's insurance last month I went from the comparison site to the insurers site to check how good the cover was etc, this gave me a quote number which was valid for 3 weeks. When I came to buy the cover I just pulled the quote up and paid. I paid £214 for a 1.2 Fabia 70bhp.

I also pay £360 (fully comp) for the vRS II... not bad I think :) no points full NCD. any driver over 25 (any driver at all if on a lesson ;) )

Post code lottery?

If using comparison sites, or for that matter, comparing any offer, make sure it is on a like for like basis. Especially little things like protected no claims etc. Currently have the VRS insured with Aviva at £340. Full NCD, 40+ years old, clean licence, car parked on driveway, in excess of 20,000 miles per annum. Skoda insurance was £570.

hi i have looked at insurance sites and all the engines that have tsi go like this fabia se 1.2(86)ps tsi plus or 1.2(105)ps tsi plus what does plus mean? other ones 1.2( 85) se this one £388/tsi £600+

Hmm, don't know why the "plus" is there

Mine is with Direct Line, £280 with protected no claims. But then I live up north.

Got insurance through confused.com for my VRS and best price was with Admiral, £210 40 years old, garaged over night, protected no claims. Skoda insurance was £580 !! :o

On our TSI we paid £530 whihc is for 2 drivers both over 40, i have a clean licence and no claims and the mrs has 3 points and full no claims.

Our 1.2 tsi 105bhp went up from 380 to 490 with tesco in december, we challenged it and tesco agreed to keep it at 380.

We did get a cheaper quote, but claimed once with tesco 5 yrs ago and it went pretty smoothly, the cheaper quote was from a company i hadnt heard of.....
