Radio Problem

Featured Replies

Hi all - My apologies that this is a somewhat long winded story but would be grateful for your patience. I am posting this on behalf of my elderly father who has an 07 registered Fabia. Last November he was away on holiday and just before he returned I thought I would give the car a quick run only to find the battery flat. I put it on charger overnight and initially no problem except two nights later the battery was flat again and this time the alarm went off so in trying to silence it he disconnected the battery. I recharged the battery and reconnected but he did not need to use it the following day and result the day after the battery was flat again. Cutting a long story short the fault was traced to the radio being permanently on and unable to be switched off. He took it to the local garage who disconnected it for him and the battery has been fine since.

The problem is that in disconnecting the battery the radio was de-coded and we can find nothing on the documentation which reveals the code, and the garage it was bought new from is no longer in business. I do not want to involve him in any expense more than is necessary especially if a Skoda dealer is involved but at the moment the radio is electrically disconnected, but would like to try and resolve the initial fault and get the radio/cd operational again.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated, many thanks

the radio is linked to the cars ecu so you cannot take from one car to another. you can try this skoda told me how to do it make sure the radio is turned off put key in ignition turn on not start the engine then turn radio on and wait 30 seconds the radio should code itself. if this does not work you will have to take to skoda dealer any one of them as they are service partners may charge you thou to get code for youor buy a after market radio and fit this you can get a fixing kit

I think you need to take it to the dealer. When they did some work one mine they had to remove the battery and the radio naturally got locked. They retrieved the code online via the Skoda network and since then I' ve written mine down just in case.
