Eibach springs & wheel alignment!

Featured Replies

Morning everyone!!

Got a quick question to ask & would be open to your pearls of wisdom on it!1 :)

Picked up my new VRs estate in White B) last week & am loving it. Much prefer the petrol to the diesel VRs that I had before & the DSG is fantastic. Anyway when I picked the car up it had a chip on the boot, turns out some toe-rags had been lobbing stones at the compound & mine got hit :'( .

Taking the car to the dealers to get sorted & also got a good deal on the Eibach lowering springs so thought why not!! :p Am I right in thinking that the wheel alignment will need to be checked after the springs are fitted?

Thanks in advance

Mark G

I did...I think it does need it, best be safe anyway as they are not always set up right at the factory-see all the threads re sawtoothing.

Yes it will have altered , you also want the geometry checked not just the alignment

As Rich says. If you change the "resting length" of the springs, you necessarily change the camber, castor and toe angles of a strut, wishbone or multi-link suspension.

Thinking of just fitting the Eibach pro spring kit on my vrs estate at the mo as cant stretch to affording coilovers yet. Anyone got a picture or the finished ride height as not sure if 20mm is enough of a drop?

skodaphile just sent you a PM as think you have/had this setup.

Nobafett has just eibach springs so search his threads. I have koni fsd dampers and it could probably do with being another 10mm lower but I am happy enough with it.

Well ive ordered the Eibach springs and will get them fitted along with the brakes over the next week and then its 4 wheel alignment to get everything right.

May I also suggest 15mm rear hubcentric spacers to save 'losing' your wheels into the arches. My spacers were added at the same time the Eibachs were fitted. Gives a nicer look too.

Yea been looking at them aswell and think i will invest in a set. Thinking 10mm on the front aswell but they will have to wait for a mo.

You might struggle to find 10mm ones and if you do check that there haven't been reported cracking on them around the hub

Yea I've read that a few times now which puzzles me a little as to why they would crack.

Cheers for the heads up though fella

Assume it's due to there being insufficient thickness for the design to be sufficiently robust. I am on the look out for some so am looking for recommendations too.

Cool and let me know if you find some

Alignment is not sufficient you need the geometry checked
