My Fab saloon petrol engine is at the point now where I have to decide whether to get the head re-built (To counter the oil loss) or trade-it in. Do about 450 miles a month at the moment, and since having a service in mid-February til last week it lost one litre of oil i.e. oil usuage beyond manufacturers spec.

How much will it cost to get the piston rings repalced ? Is it likely anything else will need doing e.g. valve stem seals, honing of the cylinder walls. Further, whilst the block and top-end are in bits is it worth doing anything else on a precautionary basis ?
