Tyre Issue

Featured Replies

After a lot of toing and froing with the trye noise issue, I have now agreed a deal with Skoda.

The car has now done 19,000 miles, and last week I was offered 50%, whcih I said no to.

I spoke to somebody new today, and they offered 65%, and then when I said that it has taken 3 months, and I reported it at 9500 miles, they went off and confirmed with the dealer, and unfortunately, I took it in at 10,300 miles.

We have now agreed that they will pay 75% for the new tyres. I have chosen Pirelli P6000 as I used to have them on Peugeot.

The car is being serviced, and as I know I can get the tyres cheaper away from Skoda, I am asking the dealer to price match and then use the difference to pay my 25%.

I wanted 100%, but I have had enough now, and as Skoda say, I have had 20,000 miles of use out of them.

Well done on that.

I have the same problem with the dunlops after 12000 miles.

I tried to send a complaint using the form on their site but it just keeps bombing out.

Does anyone have the email address for customer services?

Cheers

I would call customer service, and deal with it that way.

....... I have chosen Pirelli P6000 ....

WHY oh WHY would you want P6000's???

They are probably the worst tyre I have ever put on a car. I'm still staggered to see many new cars are fitted with these as standard still. They are a very old tread design and they offer no grip in the dry or the wet. I had them on my Golf and they were lethal! [ shudders at thought /]

I do hope you find them better on your octy though there are better choices to be had out there for less money.

+1 on 6000's

They were shocking on my A3, wore out in 8k.

my front dunlops wore out at around 19k, rears still got loads of tread at 35k, shame as they are very noisey indeed, the front were changed for firestones as these were all they had at the time where we have our tyres done.

both front and rear will be changed together next time with conti sc3's or one sof the other ones mentioned on here.

+2 on p6000, terrible tyre.

Go for Conti's or Michelins.

Hi All

It seems that the form on the Skoda site worked and they got my complaint.

They called me today and I was told that they would not pay anything towards new tyres.

They also stated that Dunlop has advised customers to rotate they wheels on the car to minimise the sawtoothing issue.

I asked how this could be done when the car was supplied with no wheel key and no jack.

The guy was very nice on the phone although he couldn't or wouldn't help me.

He will email me the advice from Skoda on this issue.

What is next? Auto Express, Jeremy Clarkson?

Has anyone already contacted the press about this? Perhaps a few more emails might get them to run a story on it.

I had the car in at the dealers twice to get the geometry done and they said it was fine but when I took it to a specialist all 4 wheels were out of alignment. It seems to be ok now that the specialist has adjusted it - it drives fine and the fuel economy increased by 80 miles per tank. I am about to put the alloys and summer tyres back on (just got 2 Falken 452's fitted to replace the dunlops). I will never use crappy dunlops again.

Cheers

35k on the rear Dunlops and there still Ok tread wise! surley then this proves that everyone having the 'sawtoothing' issue including myself cant blame Dunlop tyres for it!

Hope I havent made a booboo. I chose them as I had them on my old pug 407, and they seemed fine.

I would have used this forum for suggestions, but I only confirmed the other day that they were going to pay towards my tyres, and have been out a lot so did not get the chance.

All I know is that new tyres, no road noise!!! (for the time being)

Have you had them put on yet? If not get the order changed. It is your choice at the end of the day.
