Door mirror repeater lamp

Featured Replies

Indicator not working on my door mirror. I had a look, it's a LED and the whole lens unit has to be replaced at a cost of approx £35. I couldn't find a current supply but I had the car at a specialist for another electrical fault and they say the bulb's faulty.

Anyone know if it is a 12v supply, I might take the unit apart to investigate before shelling out £35

LED's are usually very tough and last a lot longer than traditional tungsten bulbs.

There have been a few posts on cracked lenses letting in water but I've never heard of an undamaged LED failing.

The MKII Octavia has had LED repeaters for several years now so there will be plenty out there in scrap yards.

Not sure on the supply voltage, I'm guessing 12V.

Access is easy, tilt the mirror as far down as it will go, you can then get your fingers behind it. Gently prise the mirror glass off its clips and you should then be able to get access to the Torx screw that holds the repeater in place. Disconnect the supply and its off!

I had to change the one on our Polo last week (MOT due) as it dimmed to the point of being invisible. (Moisture ingress). Whole unit was sealed (but not water tight apparently) and when the LED goes you've no choice but to replace the sealed unit. Polo's was £23 so I guess the price is about right.
