Ideling Rev

Featured Replies

Hi, I've got a Fabia Ambiente 2008, 1.2l and I have some problem with my rev bouncing up and down for the last 3 months.

The problem mostly happens when the car is running for a little while and is at its max temperature.

Basically when changing gears or slowing down, the rev will stay up at the point where it was before I slowed down and come down very very slowly. When stopped completely the rev will then bounce up and down between 500 and 800 and the engine sounds like its about to cut out when the rev is its lowest.

I've been to my Skoda dealer 3 times at this stage. There is no faults showing in the system. I got the throttle body cleaned and they updated the software but that all didn't make a difference.

I'm now thinking it might be the accelerator pedal itself that sticks at times cause the problem will stop when I put my food underneath the pedal and pull it up a bit, just to start again when I stop the next time. However the dealer doesn't seem to agree with my theory...

I would appreciate any ideas/help. Maybe someone had the same problem and can help me???

Thanks

Please.. remember to post this under the correct fabia mk2?? forum! One possiable solution to problem is the following! Disconnect the negative from the car battery for 40mins (make sure you have any security codes for you hifi etc.!) This wipes the learned values for the ECU and resets to default. Then reconnect the battery and start the engine, leave to idle for about 30 - 40 mins DO NOT TOUCH THE ACCELERATOR AT ALL!!. The engine will hunt and sound as if it's going to stall, but this process resets the idle speed etc. You will then have to reset the upper limit of the electric windows after this (by locking car with key in lock and turning one way (can't remember which way) until the windows go up and reset (they will stop and hold key in this positon for a further 3 secs then release key and withdraw from lock). If they go down with key in lock turn key other way!! and then you will have to reset the clock and hifi security code as well! B)

A sticky pedal shouldn't only manifest itself when the engine is hot.

I'd suspect the engine stabilisation control, or a split crankcase ventilation hose (not sure the first one will show up, and the second certainly won't always; it needs someone to physically inspect all the ventilation hoses.

Also, as Dave sort of suggests above, you can move this to the Fabia 2 forum yourself. Not re-post; move this actual thread.
