I have a leak

Featured Replies

I was washing the car, and when I was doing the inner door shuts I noticed a pool of water in the drivers foot well.

It was leaking from under the dash, coming down past the accelerator and pooling where there is the little bit of plastic on the carpet.

I have never had a leak like this until now, and don't know where to start looking.

The below pic shows where the leak is coming from (red circle) and were it is going (blue...duh).

Any Ideas where this leak could be coming from??

yes its coming from your scuttle area i would imagine. You need to remove the scuttle trays (where the wipers are) then check your scuttle drains to make sure they are not clogged (one either side), they you need to check the scuttle/bulkhead area for gaps/holes most common i have seen is where the bonnet release cable drops down into the cab, there is a grommit that can come unlodged and allows water in the scuttle to run into the area that you display.

There are plenty of other water weakness spots in the octy, but where you are showing i would suggest its what i mention, let me know how you get on!

Took my scuttle trays off today.

PITA, it took me 25 min to "persuade" the wipers off, and after all that, there doesn't seem to be any obvious leak.

The gromit for the bonnet release cable is in place, there are other wires and some box, they both seem well sealed.

There were however lots and lots of leaves, much and a few maggots.... cleared all of this out.

Next wash will reveal if this was the culprit.

As with Oet, but if you remove the rear of the front wheel arch liners you may well get a lot of compost fall out. Essentially the water sits on the top of this and sloshes around and comes in through grommet holes for the loom, and on the drives side the bonnet release cable.

It is just a couple of the torx screws and you should be able to move the liner enough to get your hand in and scoop out the nasty compost.... or poor plenty of water in from above and it might wash the crap out.

I took my drivers side wheel arch liner out when i did cambelt on mine and got covered in compost, it was full of it behind arch liner,

After doing belt i took other side out aswell and that was same,

Not taken scuttle panel off but Ive had jet washer down either side of it and cleaned it

I had a front windscreen leaking, this had been like it since new. Lots of water in the padding and carpet under my feet. you need to take the bottom trim off, and feel under the carpet. My next door neighbour had the same problem
