Vibratechnics engine mounts

Featured Replies

After feeling like my engine was literally jumping out of the bonnet I've got round to fitting one of the two Vibratech engine mounts (gearbox side).

Simple and straight forward swap, literally a handful of beefy bolts were all it took to take the old out and put the new in.

The difference in terms of vibration is quite slight, however the main change has been the noise I now hear from my chattering flywheel..... If it was a DMF I wouldn’t have this issue at all though. The front end now feels (a lot more) connected and tighter - if that makes sense!

I have to say though the design of the new mounts is so much better than that of the OEM ones and the quality is fantastic.....expensive but worth it!!

This weekend I’ll be doing the ‘engine’ side mount...... More pics to follow!

Engine side mount fitted. Thought it was going to be a b!tch, but turned out to be a piece of cake. After removing the screws/bolts for the header tank, PAS bottle and charcoal canister I had access to the mounting bolts.

Once the engine was supported by the jack it took literally 5 minutes to remove and fit the new mounts.

Now both are fitted the results are pleasantly surprising..... Obviously there is some extra vibration on tick-over, but once up and on the move it feels great.... Engine movement is now virtually nonexistent. You can really feel the connection through the steering wheel-very difficult to explain! I have also cured my downpipe catching on the steering rack heat shield going round left hand corners at speed.... These mount have NO sideward’s movements at all - GREAT!

Money WELL spent!

is that gearbox mount for the 6 speed gearbox steevie, i know it's not relevent to this thread but i think i might have obtained the wrong part otherwise (the casting that bolts to the top/end of the gearbox with the metal support strap)

how much did they cost dare i ask?

Wish i went for these over my FR3 set. After 500 miles or so the engine seems to be the same as with the OEM mounts.

From what I understand they will fit either the 02J or 02M gearbox.

Price was around the £300 mark.

I had heard mixed reviews about the FR3 mounts, most said they caused too much vibration...
