CLICKING SOUND WHEN CHANGING GEAR?

Featured Replies

I noticed when driving my SCOUT CR diesel to Wales this weekend that when I change up from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd I can hear, and sort of feel, a clicking sound that seems to be coming from the rear of the vehicle when I lift the clutch. I don't notice it moving to the higher gears but his may be because of the higher volume of engine/road noise at the corresponding higher speed. I don't notice it changing down and sometimes it's more noticeable than others.

Does anyone have any idea what this may be before I visit my garage please?

The car is only 6 months old with just about 4500 miles on the clock.

I have something very similar on mine. Kind of feels like some slack is been taken up before something engages ? If it's the same it's not something I've worried about. Does it do it if you match the revs perfectly on the upchange ?

Maybe not, which is why it sometimes seems more noticable. Seems a bit worse under load, say on a hill. It's only just started doing it as far as I know.
