cam or so called timing belt

Featured Replies

Hi folks!!!

This is a question, have a petrol 2.0 autom. Octavia, changed original cam belt and tensioner @ 80000 KM, note KM

Actually the car have 156000 on the clock, is always needed to change belt and tensioner every 80000 KM?

Thanks

Alvaro

Yep, every 80,000 km aor 4 years, whichever come first.

Given what the weather can be like where you live, and the effects that has on rubber, very much so.

Incidentally, the "timing belt" name comes from the fact that the misadjustment of this belt changes the camshaft orientation relative to the crankshaft, and hence changes the valve timing relative to the pistion movement.
