all the best mate, if its a good one youll have lots of fun

 just dont come on here much or it will make you skint.

Ok so just got home with the rs had a good trip back and loved it, it's standard spec had new cambelt at 40000 miles just done 109000 now so is a new one due? I will add pics I love it so far!!

yes one is due now, and for piece of mind, they are worth doing anyway even if within the 60k period.

What's the average price of a cambelt change? The cai and 007p valve will have to wait :'(

Budget £300 for the cambelt/tensioner/waterpump/coolant.

That's a fair price is that just the parts or fitted? Thanks.

Should be fitted for the bits, ring around some local (good) independent garages.

A dealer may well be more.

where are you in kent?

amd motorsport @ lakeside is £312 fitted ( belt and waterpump etc all in )

thats pretty good to be honest, i paid 350 a while ago from impossible.

amd are a big outfit and will stand by their work

I'm in Maidstone want it done asap does any1 know a good garage local?

This has just got me to look at my service history and it seem that in 144k it has never had a belt change!

thats good.

Mind when they first came out they did say 120K between changes. iirc some VAG cars are still 120K and they are similar parts I beleive

wouldnt take you that long to get to lakeside ... 30mins or so ... and im sure amd will squeeze u in

personally i dont use a local garage as ive had probs in the past ( even from so called specialists ) and i doubt you will get it much ( if any ) cheaper than that

mines due again in the next 10k and this is where im taking it ( and i live in crystal palace )

wherever u go make sure they change the waterpump too as they are prone to failing... better still .. if a garage u call for a quote dont tell you this then they dont know what they are doing lol

Skoda wanted £500 to do mine. I fount a VAG specialist who did it for £250 including parts and labour. MAKE sure when you get it done, you ask the mechanic to order a metal impeller waterpump

Ahmen to that. Ive been on here 5 months and spent at least £1200 on mods / repairs lol.

Im sure it will of had a belt change. If not get it done asap. My tensioner sheared off the block on my old GTI-6 and bent 15 out of 16 valves. cost £800ish iirc :wonder:

thats not good at all!!!!

get it done asap

good practice is every 60k or 3/5yrs sooner being better

It was an old rep mobile so I would of thought it had one. I found a reciept? that says cambelt/tensioner?? (Check) and this was at 89500 miles. It hasn't been autorised and there is no price or conformation of work.

It was done at a Skoda dealers so I think I will call them in the morning and see if they can tell me if it was changed.

Just looked through the service history skoda booklet. It says that at 120k a toothed belt was changed. Would they be reffering to the Cambelt do you think?

Btw, sorry for the thread hi-jack

Yep, that's the cambelt

Waterpump probably hasn't been replaced though.

Nope, too late Dylan, I will be sending the bill your way ;)

Well it had two cambelt changes within 10k of one another? So maybe it did have the pump done?

If not am I able to do the pump myself?
