Skoda parts from japan?

Featured Replies

Anyone know if Skoda use some parts from Japan? electronics parts etc.. or they make everything in Czech Republic?

If they have some parts from japan I guess the delivery would be a huge problem now..

Ordered a new fabia september last year.. with build date 9.. then I got build date 14.. and still hope for build date 14..

A vast majority of the parts under my bonnet are labelled as either VW or AUDI so I suppose it is where-ever they get their parts from, most likely Germany.

Or most likely from the CZ

If parts were from Japan it would be a Toyota!!!!!:giggle:

If your thinking about electronic stuff its more than likely made by vdo + bosch and vdo is mainly made in austria or malaysia and bosch is everywhere so no worries there.

My Toyota says made in Derby :wonder:

Just put an order in for my Rallye Green Fabia VRS this morning. Specced parking sensors and he said i may not be able to get. All dealers have recieved an e-mail yesterday informing then of a (and i quote my dealer) "world shortage of parking sensors". Apparently these do come from a japanese company and will probably either result in them being removed from your order or your build being extended!

Interesting - I asked Skoda UK today if any chips came from Japan and he said none are sourced from the far east. Guess the sensor may not be a chip!

Small tip for you here...

Dealers WILL LIE TO YOU! They are quite capable of misleading you in order to get you to part with your wonga. They will say "No problem" Knowing there may be delays, just to keep you interested. I was told the latest Fabia was just a new front bumper and maybe the seat trim changing...

If I was unhappy with my car, I would have complained! As it is, I prefere some of my bits anyway but a newer shape will hold value longer and again, they said the earlier one will still be around the same valueused as the facelift but I doubt it, as who wants an old shape for new shape money?

As for sensors, if you ordered and paid for them, make sure they retro-fit them if they are missing and ask for something else too, to make up for it, like say, mats or mudflaps, etc.

I have just been on the phone to my dealer (well, one of his colleagues as he left and no1 told me!) I added Rear Parking Sensors onto my order which was accepted as there is no build date yet. I queried the possibility of a delay and he said it would be minor if at all, and im still looking at 14-16 weeks.

Im no longer listening to ANY dates or other speculation as it's getting daft - I'll just get it when I get it.

I imagine items like RPS and other extras are stock items and automatically replenished when a certain number are earmarked for use (well, thats what i'd hope from a major manufacturer). :p

Couldn't agree more. The speculation around the waiting times is getting a bit mental! I'm in no HUGE hurry to get my car, it's just something i really want, but if I have to wait 5 months then fair enough. Gives me more time to save up and pay a chunk off it when it arrives :)

Only comment I can make is that Ford Belgium is starting to worry about stocks of certain electronic parts going into shortage.

OK, I know it's Ford and not VW Group, but still European, it's amazing the amount of stuff which does come from Japan.

Stewart.

Wait till China has a major breakdown and then we're all going to be in deep ****.
