My 80k plus miles 06 plate VRS is immaculate apart from an ever increasing number of unsightly stone chips on the front bumper and bonnet - a consequence of doing mostly motorway miles.

There are so many now that the only option really is to get it resprayed and blended into the tops of the front wings.

Anyone had this done this recently?....Approx cost £?.............

Also, can anyone recommend and good bodyshops in the Nottingham area?

Very much depends on quality of the bodyshop. £300 will get you a front end 'blowover' but results will not be that great. It's all in the prep which is time consuming. It needs flatted back to get a good key for new primer. Stone chips need to be filled, so high build primer is used, then flatted back to get a level surface. Then two to three coats of base primer, colour coat, and then lacquer.

Now some good painters can do that for £300 if they know their stuff, and are doing jobs on the side. However a pucker bodyshop will charge in the region of £500 for the same work.

If you use a bodyshop, insist on seeing the results of work they do. If you use a freelancer, go by word of mouth from people who have used him/her.
