Can I remove roofbars?

Featured Replies

I've just bought a 56/2007 Fabia Bohemia estate which came with roofbars. I can't see any way to remove them. I've been told that some models come with them fixed and they are not removeable. Is that correct please? They run the length of the roof, front to back. I understand that bars that run across the roof from side to side are removeable.

I take it you're talking about teh rails than run along the length of the car. I think you can drop the roof lining and unbolt them from inside, but you'll be left with a set of holes and then you'll need to get a pair of the gutter trims from a non-roof bar model. Most people with estates don't have the rails and want them but the cost makes it prohibitive. If you really don't like them I'm sure somebody would swap their trim for yours with the bars and bolts. Personally I'd leave them on.

you can remove them - its not that easy

remove headlining, you will then find the 3 fixings (each side)

you will then need to replace both roof mouldings.

It is possible to remove bars by uncliping the 3 (again each side) plastic covers on the rails ( one front, centre & rear of the rails) you can the remove the 10mm nuts and lift the rails off. this method leaves 3 studs showing. ( I used this method while getting vehicle painted )

hope this helps?
