checking order form

Featured Replies

hi guys,

i have had a look at the order form from dealer and wanted to get some advice of a few parts that are on it.

first off although it is called vat free offer i take it in the order they still need to look as if they have charged vat and just give a discount on the car?

secondly i have on my order form a delivery charge of £425, is this correct that i am being charged this?

and third point is that the road fund license is £305, again is this right?

many thanks

Mr road fund was £300 and delivery was £425. Although delivery is taking an age.

I think you ate correct about the vat comment above. My dealer explained that the "less dealer support" bit is the discount minus the vat. When they add the vat on then that is your total discount.

ok just wanted to check as i was not aware about the road fund license and delivery to be honest. he never mentioned it to me at all.

just wanted to check if this was the norm.

cheers

Yeah, you can't buy anything without paying VAT on it. It's illegal.

Check out the small print

On the Skoda site.

The small print also states that the VAT equivalent discount apllies to the price before delivery and road fund licence, and these are added on after.

so is that the norm then for the road fund license and delivery charge being added to everyones order?

thanks again

Yes it is the norm for the RFL and delivery charge to be added to the order. In the brochure it will say something about the "On the road" costs. That is what these are. They will be added to the cost after any other discounts are applied.

Your RFL will be that high in the first year as it will include what is called the "showroom tax" on new cars. The amount charged depends on the CO2 banding for your car. Low emmissions cars have a £0 tax, gas guzzlers will be charged the earth quite literary!!!

thansk for that so road fund license is road tax then? what should it be for the year normally then? i though £180?

petrol vrs.

cheers

  • Author

thanks so looking at this, the RFL should be more then:

First year rates - Cars registered on or after 1 April 2010 (based on fuel type and CO2 emissions)

H

166-175

12 months - £250.00

Cars registered on or after 1 March 2001 (based on fuel type and CO2 emissions)

H

166-175

12 months - £180.00

6 months - £99.00

sorry i just want to be sure of what i am actually paying for.

cheers

Assuming that you have gone for the manual vRS:

  • First year tax (band H): £250
  • Registration fee: £55
  • Total: £305

Next year your tax will drop to the normal rate of £180 (assuming that the goverment doesn't ramp up tax again :dull:).

thanks, lets hope not.

Are you not getting discount or are you just paying the "VAT Free" price which is list price really?? :wonder:

  • Author

no discount as fas as i am aware just the vat free offer, does most people get a discount?

thanks

Most don't seem to.

I got a quote from one of the site sponsors here which was around £500 below the VAT free offer.

My local dealership offered to match it - so I do have a slightly higher discount.

Don't think that is the norm however.

thanks just checking as what m0bov had said made me think it maybe should have got more off.

cheers

You can still haggle to get additional discount off as well as the VAT free offer, though chances are your dealer will spin you the same line as they did me and state this is already costing them a lot so won't help. You can get things thrown in still. Also remember you should get the 20% discount off all extras as well.

  • Author

please see image of scanned order form.

does it look like i am getting the 20% off extras then?

many thanks for your help

Yes, you have the VAT free discount applied to those extras. Look in the Octavia brochure, the price listed in the 'basic' column is the price with no VAT and that is what you have on your form.

With regards to discount, I'm sure you said you had ordered from CHthams in Edinburgh. If that is the case then there was no chance of you getting a discount over and above the VAT free deal.

I ordered from the Dunfermline branch and got about £500 off but others on here have been less successfull. To be fair, even without any other discount it's still a very good deal.

Yes - I can confirm the "discount" prices on the accessories.

Here is the price list my dealer gave to me:

RRP/VAT/Price to you

Rear Park Sensors £300/£50.00/£250

Auto Dim Mirror £170/ £28.33/ £141.67

Xenon Headlights £750/ £125/ £625

Leather Upholstery £850/ £141.67/ £708.33

Spare Wheel £75/ £12.50/ £62.50

Maxi Dot £130/ £21.67/ £108.33

thanks guys i just wanted to check.

yeah absolutely no way i would get anything more from them. maybe a full tank of fuel when i get it lol but that will be pushing it i bet.

one thing i noticed is that it is the tfsi engine in there, yet i see others have a tsi engine? waht is the differnce? why are the different in the new fl vrs?

cheers again

It will be the newer TSI engine in your car.

The TFSI appeared right up until the end of the pre-fl vehicles.

The last few, the Limited Edition ones I think, also had the newer TSI engine.

More refined and no Cambelt to change.

Unless you have negotiated this into the 'deal', I wouldn't hold your breath. I've bought 3 cars from new, first came with fumes in the tank, 2nd I got a voucher for the local BP garage, last had half a tank. With all 3 I specified and had it written down that the car would come with a full tank. It might sound very petty but I wouldn't sign for any of the cars until the contract was satisfied!

A full tank 'aint cheap these days!

  • Author

thanks yeah i think it should come with a full tank to be honest.

will see when i get delivery date through what i can then say to them about it.

that is good about the tsi engine, i was just slightly unsure as it listed tfsi in the order form yet looking around the tsi seems to be the one going in which sounds better and the chain sounds better. also read it is got a slight increase in power.

thanks again guys

unless you want to drive ur car out of the dealership with no tax they need to add it in.

and it does say on the skoda uk website that the vat will be showen on the customer invoices

Did'nt think anyone paid list for their cars. Try another dealer, I saved over £2k on mine but I went with drive the deal. Try that website, don't pay a penny more!
