My car got dropped off after it's MOT yesterday and the only advisory was lifting bushes.

I'm no mechanic in any sense, what are bushes? where are they? what do they effect? Do I need to get them fixed asap? how much do they cost? am I better buying recommended ones instead of whatever the garage has in stock?
