anyone heard of these advise can map the 1.6 cr tdi

+ 25 bhp +35lbs torque

Welcome to the forum mate,

AMD are massive in the VAG tuning department, they currently sponsor and run a MK5 Golf in the BTCC, and the figures quoted a realsistic for a turbo charged engine.

Also look at Shark Performance, drop Shark_90 a PM for further info.

I purchased a chip tuning box from German CRD-Tuning couple of weeks ago. Its price was 89€ so very decent I must say.

Last Friday I received my SuperB Combi Greenline. I drove couple of hours "unchipped" and after that I attached tuning box to its place. After driving a while I noticed increased torque and acceleration and I was quite pleased with the results. So it was really "bang for the buck". CRD-Tuning promises 132 bhp and 319 Nm after tuning box installation so numerically it should be close to 2.0 TDi though I haven't got a chance to make any comparison.

Of course that tuning box cannot remove the physical limitations of the original engine-turbo setup, i.e. turbo lag with such a small engine but after the turbo will start to spin you'll notice the difference between 2000-4000 RPM.

It won't transform your tiny 1.6 engine to a rocket but it'll spice it up. I was pleased with the results taken account that its price was only 89€.

BTW, has anyone else tuned their 1.6CR? I'd like to read other tuning experiences as well...

Let's lift this topic UP! :)

Let's hope it doesn't make your engine go bang

I work on the adage that you don't get anything for nothing, so tuning for 89€ is a bit of a risk to my mind

It depends how you're driving your car. If the pedal is to the metal all the time, of course there's a risk that something can happen, like with all engine tunings. But if it's used only for overtaking (with the warmed up engine) etc. purposes, I wouldn't see a very big risk over there.

That CR TDI tuning is done by "fooling" the fuel pressure regulator. The cheapest tuning box I've seen has costed 59€ and the most expensive 599€. Both will do exactly the same thing but I chose the supplier which has their own website (not just E-bay or similar) and has got some good reviews on other discussion forums.

So so far so good...I'm pleased with the results.

I dont think the 1.6 CR has many tuning options for it yet. From what I have seen it uses some even more heavily encoded ECU than the 1.2 TSi.

Personally If I had one i`d just have it de-DPF`d.

Hi - Just ordered a Yeti with this engine.

My current car is a 2.2 Civic diesel - with a similar tuning box (from another German outfit - racechip.de - very professional service - 129 euros) - results brilliant especially fuel consumption - I'm now getting 55MPG (previously 47MPG)- much more tractable at low revs.

I'm hoping the box will liven up the Yeti - and even get near to the quoted MPG! I'm a convert.

So far I haven't had any problems with that tuning box I mentioned earlier. Only positive things. And there are lots of suppliers which can offer the similar tuning boxes within the price range 59€ - 599€.

And speaking about the price: that doesn't necessarily mean anything. For example I have an individually mapped Saab NG900 Turbo stage 4+ and the mapping was done for free. OK, that was a showcase but still I didn't have to pay anything else than V-Power gasoline while it was driven on the road and adjusted.
