L&K 1.8 Petrol DSG Estate Order

Featured Replies

Hello,

I ordered a new L&K 1.8 Petrol DSG Estate on 25th January this year. The order is still sitting at 'No Assignment of a Build Week'.

I rang the salesman today, and he said that "VW are being very slow in delivering these engines to us". I suggested that this was certainly the case with diesel engines, but I hadn't heard that there was a problem with petrol engine deliveries – he was adamant that there did seem to be a problem. Has anyone else heard the same story for the 1.8 TSI petrol engine?

By the way, I said to him that I had heard about a compensation scheme from Skoda if delivery took longer than 16 weeks, and he was more than happy to confirm that this was indeed the case.

Cheers, Mike.

No not heard a problem with the EA888 engine biulds, more with DSG, stereos and other bits.

When you get it you will be chuffed I am sure. I am the 1.8TSI's biggest fan.

It is incredible quick, 0-60 in 7.5s, standing kilometer in under 20 seconds yet I am averaging 42 mpg ie 500 mile tanks.

I went for the 7 speed DSG too and the phone pack as I do 1K miles a week. If there is any downside I think that you only get around 19K between services rather than 24K I use to get out of the diesels but would not change if there were the same price but then I don't pay for most of my fuel.

Car came with fairly crappy Bridgestone Potenza RE050s ie only traction rating A rather than AA, SWIMBOs TSI VRS now on Mich PS3s and much better.

I've noticed the 1.8TSi taking longer to come recently, partly I suspect because of the VAT Free Offer on Superb petrol models.

Be patient it is a fantastic piece of engineering!
