Airbag warning light on

Featured Replies

Hi guys, i'm completely new to this forum having opted for a Fabia after my beloved Yaris died. It's a 2003 1.4 MPI which I got on ebay from a dealer - however the airbag warning light is on at the moment. I've been told that this is a fairly common problem with these cars and was wondering what I need to do to fix it with relitively little cost. I'm assuming its just a sensor?

Thanks, Mike

Look in the VAGCOM section to find your nearest member that has one and get the error codes read. This will give you a better indication as to where the problem lies.

I have one, but am not in Scotland! :-)

The airbag light also comes on when there are other faults. Usually easy to reset with VAGCOM. My local garage recently reset mine after there was a temporary power loss to the clocks.

Great, thanks guys! :)

Also other main cause of this in all cars is the weight sensor for the airbag system in the seat! When the car changes owners, the seat moves to a different position, the wiring under the seat which has been in one position and has "set" is now moved to a different position, which can cause the wiring to loose connection! Check in space under the drivers seat (move seat forwards and go in from back) and make sure all ok! B)
