Throttle body

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Having relieved the scrap truck of it's throttle body, it seems that it's covered (quite literally) in oil. Other than avoiding the electrics on it, what's the best way to clean it up and make sure it's in a usable condition?

Cheers

as long as its not for sale ;) then I would use carb cleaner and an old tooth brush..

petrol does a good job too but smells for longer

Thanks :-) Does it need any special greasy stuff once clean?

Cheers

just give it a squirt with some aerosol carb cleaner and it will be fine, the residues will evaporate

That's one serious set of springs on these things! Am impressed with the tolerances too. The valve closes to about 99.9999999999%, no seal either, just metal to metal.

The throttle reset (leave battery disconnected for 24 hrs), does it actually reset the throttle body, or just the ECU?
