Iphone 4 insurance

Featured Replies

Im due an upgrade in a few days and I want to get an Iphone 4 32gb (free from orange) but as they are around £400 upwards I want to get some insurance. Im not sure who to use for this ive been haveing a look and on the web and it looks like i can get a policy for around £6 p/m but some have large excesses and others a cap on how much they will pay out ect.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Simon

Some bank accounts give you mobile phone cover, don't know how good the cover is though.

Orange do their own for about £6 dont they?

Covers everything , and AFAIK has no excess. Plus 1 less bill.

I have my insurance with Lloyds Tsb via my Gold account  and is £30 excess (£100 for Silver account). The account costs £12 a month but I get other benefits like Travel insurance and Breakdown cover plus other things.

Household Insurance covers Mobile Phones...It just needs specifying on the policy

It's £6 for a basic phone,£12 a month to cover an iPhone with Orange.

Ok , thanks. Wifes BB Torch is insured through them ( work pays for it ) , its £6 per month. She has had it 7 months. Thats where I got the figure from.

Just got an iphone 4 16GB, and insured it via my lloydstsb bank account with no problem.

Orange care is still one of the best insurances, as you still get 24hour replacement when lost, stolen or damaged providing you havent made a previous claim during your contract period. They also cover you for unauthorised use of your airtime when lost or stolen.

thanks for the advice guys

+1 for house insurance.

Home insurance is fine, but you'd have an excess and this will simply drive up your home insurance. May also count as a crime in your homes area if stolen, which could affect your car insurance too.

Fair doos, but it's what insurance is for and saves paying £30 a month for dedicated insurance.

You wouldn't not claim on car insurance as that gets bumped up too.

Or you can keep your account balance above a certain value and then the Gold Account features are free :-)

Not sure where you get £30/month from. Most phone insurance is around £6/month. Only Iphones are more (up to £16) as they are most stolen or claimed to have been stolen.

looked at the free insurance I got from my bank they will pay upto £500 for one claim with a £25 excess but only one claim per year they dont replace the phone they give you the cash to get another one do you guys think this on its own with the warrenty is enough?

I owe someone a beer for this thread. I took out £6 pm insurance with Orange on my new phone (Xperia X10) and after a bank account was mentioned I just checked my current account and I have dog's bo**ox mobile phone cover too! :D So cancelled with Orange, saving me a bit each month.

And even better I think, Orange customer service people were all spot on and helpful/cheerful too!

Just remember though your Orange care covers next day replacement due to faults. Most other insurances you have to send back to the manufacturer, leaving you without a phone until repaired.

It's the ONLY good thing about Orange, and the ONLY thing I miss about them.

Well, I have a standby basic old phone should I have to return the X10. Not worth me paying twice thats for sure :)
