1.4 mpi brakes

Featured Replies

Hey are the front vrs brakes the same as the 1.4 mpi ones as am wanting to upgrade my mpi, also how hard is it to change the rear drum brakes to discs. So then i could have vrs brakes all round.

Thanks

Aaron

P.s

a little off topic but i know people say induction kits are useless on the vrs but how about the mpi?

Iv also done a search and there is not much on the mpi

Brakes aren't the same - and to fit them you'll need hubs from either a vRS or the 2.0 petrol. No idea regarding the rears either - sorry!

Some people say the make a difference, some say they just sound nice - personally I have no experience, but do like the sound!

Major work on front and rear!! New hub carriers I think on front, then on rear... remove stub axles, remove drum mech plate, refit stub axles, fit new discs, new calipers and caliper carriers (might be easier to just get a complete VRS ream beam axle which is stiffer and just connect 2 brake hoses, 2 pivot bolts and 2 damper bolts)!!!! If you want better braking without lots of work just get EBC turbogroove discs and EBC green stuff pads (all straight swap) and renew fluid with EBC dot5, and fit Goodridge braided hoses to fronts!! Soryr to post agian but iv done a search for the Goodridge braided hoses gessing these are them Question is does anyone know if i can just get the front ones as it seems abit of a waist paying for a full set.

Sorry forgot to say that a set is four (two for front and two for the brake lines from the body to the beam axle which are a sod to fit!!! and short compared to fronts) The rear flexi pipe from the axle to the caliper (disc brakes) Goodrigde don't do so the standard kit should fit!! Goodridge code KCB-50-770-4P for non VRS and zinc plated fittings!

Just had a look at that set.... part code wrong....but as goodridge only make one set for vrs and one set for non vrs (you can have different colours of outer sleave and zinc or stainless fittings) should be ok! B)
