EPC and CEL light on

Featured Replies

Hi All

I posted a while back that my EPC and CEL light at constantly on. It is the P0601 Checksum error. The dealer wants to replace the ECU at a cost of £1600.

Just wondering if anyone has any more ideas on this. I have already had the 24K5 update and the reading from my car confirms this.

I really don't want to pay £1600 to replace a fully functioning ECU but obviously as these lights are constantly on I will have difficulty selling the car and will now know if any genuine errors crop up.

Cheers

How do you find out if your car has had the 24k5 update carried out.

My 06 octavia vrs (petrol) has just been diagnosed with the same fault, knowing of the potential software update "fix" I asked the service manager if there was any updates that applied to my car and he said no, I asked if they'd checked, he said yes, do I believe him, errrr no! I'd like to check myself, or I'll have to take it to another dealer for a 2nd opinion.

Does anyone know what the likely outcome would be if the ecu was at fault but wasn't replaced?

My car has been running fine the last couple of weeks with the fault.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as with Shane I really don't want to be spending approx £1600 on a new ecu
