towing fuses

Featured Replies

I recently bought an octavia scout with dealer fitted towbar they originaly fitted wrong electrics with old 7 pin conector but has been changed to new 13 pin. Unfortunatly the brake lights and reversing lights on caravan are not working but all other lights appear to be working the problem is definatly in the car has anyone had this problem or know which fuses are used for the towing electrics. at present the only fuse used is 44 the fuse guide says 19,43 and 45 are also listed as towing I need to tow caravan this weekend but cant get car looked at by dealer before then. any help greatly appreciated

Sounds like the dealer may have just swapped the plugs from a single 7-pin to 13-pin.

If the original wiring was single 7-pin, then no reversing light - that would be in the second 7-pin socket.

The 13-pin wiring is different too with separate brake light feeds left and right I believe so if they 'converted' the 7-pin, they may not have wired it right.
