Blown Fabia speaker..

Featured Replies

Hi,

Bought a Fabia in January which had a list of problems, finally getting my way worked through them though. One thing Which I'm finding it hard to do is replace the blown speaker in the front passenger door. I know I'd need a spacer, i've been looking at these would they be ok?

Secondly, is there anyway I could buy a stock speaker? I've looked everywhere and on ebay and I've not found one seller who sells standard speakers. Failing that, do you know a relatively cheap (£50-60)replacement that would fit my 2000 1.9 SDI fabia?

The one speaker I've got in the car is fantastic, hence why i wouldn't mind having another stock one!

Thanks

Kingsley

Go to a dealership, you'll get a brand new standard speaker which just rivits in for around £15. I replaced one of mine a couple of weeks ago.

Simonbt... Do they come with the plastic collar, then?

you wouldnt belive but got same problem with same speaker,

I am gunna replace it tomorrow, but I bought 4cm deep upgrade 260W speakers on ebay for 20pounds,

I ll tell you soon how it goes to replace them,

Yep, if you look at the door panel with the old speaker in it - you're pretty much replacing the whole black plastic part plus the speaker. I just drilled out the rivets, pulled the old speaker off and rivetted on the new one. Simples

I've been debating, for a very long time, if I should install an amp to power the upgraded speakers the last owner installed. He must have had a better HU because the symphony struggles.

Didn't think I'd have the option to replace with OEM.. (oh, no, wait.. I still haven't cuz he cut all the cables)... Cak!

Well, I guess I could re-wire but the OEM drivers have the OEM connector, right??? Hmmmm.. And does anyone know where the Capacitor to cut the bass from the tweeters feed is? Oh, no, wait.. He changed those as well :(

OK, sorry.. lots of thinking out loud there..

Pretty sure I've got a pair of std Fabia speakers, plus front tweeters in the garage. They were removed in working order when I upgraded mine to Alpines.

Whereabouts are you? You could have the lot for £20, plus postage if needed.

I've got a feeling that the crossover is built into the oem speakers, maybe the connector is something that you could get from a dealership too? Try posting in the Wanted forums, someone may have cut them off and kept them ;) I'm sure they are the same connectors on the rears too.
